ISNT THIRUVANANTHAPURAM CHAPTER
The Thiruvananthapuram chapter of ISNT was started as Trivandrum Section of Nondestructive Testing Society of India (NDTSI) on September 21, 1978, by the efforts of a small group of scientists and engineers of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. Trivandrum Section of NDTSI was actively involved in the development of NDT technology primarily in VSSC and slowly enhanced activities with members from organizations like RRL, Keltech, Kerala University and a few colleges of Kerala University. There was a steady growth in activities, which included organizing seminars, workshops, lectures etc. As early as in 1979, a two-day workshop was organized which was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Kerala.
In the early nineties, the two leading professional bodies in the area of nondestructive testing namely NDTSI and Indian Institute of Nondestructive Inspection Engineering IINDIE, merged together to form a single professional body named ISNT and this Section has transformed into the present Thiruvananthapuram Chapter of ISNT. Today the Chapter has about 250 members with includes 200 life members and two Life Fellows in its rolls. It had good expertise in many conventional and advanced techniques.
Major activities of the Chapter
The chapter organizes various programme for furthering NDT Technology by conducting technical lectures, seminars, workshops, industry visits, refresher courses etc. Invited lectures by specialists and eminent persons are organized regularly for sharing the latest developments in the field of nondestructive testing. The continuing activities of the Chapter are, Sri. M.R. Kurup Memorial Lecture, Refresher Course on NDT, Workshop for Academic Community, ISNT Training Course, Seminars, Lectures, Publishing Quarterly Technical Bulletin 'Image', Digital Radiography Working Group India (DRWGI) activities.
