With shock and grief we hear the sad and untimely demise of Dr. V.R.Ravindran
and his wife Dr.Sudha. We, the members of ISNT, Kochi Chapter, deeply mourn
the sad demise of Dr. V. R. Ravindran, Fellow & Chairman of ISNT Trivandrum Chapter,
and his wife who passed away on 19th May 2010, in a tragic road accident at Trivandrum.
As a life fellow and Chairman of ISNT, Trivandrun Chapter, he had extended wholehearted
support and guidance to ISNT Kochi Chapter for its formation and was keenly
interested in our subsequent developmental activities. We fondly remember the
speeches he delivered for ISNT Chapter members on digital radiography.
We pray God to grant eternal rest to their soul and also give strength to the
family members to bear this irreparable loss. We hereby convey our heartfelt
condolences to all members of the bereaved family.
C.K. Soman
Chairman - ISNST KOCHI CHAPTER
Dear friends,
It is shocking and unbelievable to know that Dr.V.R.Ravindran is no more in this world.
Words are inadequate to express the sadness we feel.
It was only two days back I spoke to him ,and I was planning to meet him, during
Dr.Kurup Memorial lecture and NDE Seminar planned at Thiruvananthapuram on 22nd May.
I cannot forget the enthusiasm and excitement he expressed with regard to ISNT
activities and future plans. The sudden and untimely demise of one of the most
promising NDT scientist has left a void which can never be filled. His love for
ISNT and tremendous contributions for the growth of ISNT and promotion of NDE
science and technology will live in our minds for ever.
When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. What moves through
us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word,
we may not understand why he left this earth so soon, or why he left before
we were ready to say good-bye.His life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
May God give Dr.Ravindran and Dr.Sudha Ravindran eternal rest & may their souls rest in peace!
I would also like to express our deepest sympathy for his only surviving daughter and pray God
to give her mental strength to overcome this tragedy.

Dear Pardikar,
It was with great shock and profound grief that I heard this very sad
news from Shri Pari and saw the same this morning in the Hindu. My mind
is so shattered that I will not be able to express what all I feel. My
feelings cannot be converted into words at this time. This is
irreparable loss to the only daughter . ISNT and Space Organisation have
lost a dedicated NDT SPECIALIST. May GOD give their daughter enough
strength and fortitude to withstand this blow and carry on her life.

formation of DIR working group in ISNT, DIR workshops and NED national

Dear Friends and ISNT Members
I was aghast with the sad news and it is with great effort I bring myself
up to write these few words of condolence.
It is since my first interaction with Dr Ravindran in 1998-9 during the run
up to NDE in Trivandrum, I was completely taken in by his genuine love for
NDT and ISNT. He very successfully and amicably lead a team of Trivandrum
members in conducting two ISNT seminars there. Always smiling and with very
positive outlook he would befriend anyone no matter what age or background.
With his unfailing enthusiasm and rigor in mind we had proposed him to the
Jt. secretary ship and obviously we would have seen him taking more responsibilities
in times to come.
That was not to be.
My thoughts go to his daughter. I am sure god will give her every strength in
overcoming the ordeal and excel in life like her parents.
We should all think of ways of giving a befitting tribute to this wonderful
person. I prey their souls rest in peace.

I am deeply moved by the sudden loss of Dr.Ravindran, Chairman ISNT,
Thiruvananthapuram chapter. It is unbelievable but a harsh reality,
the soft friendly voice 'Ah, Mohan parayu' cannot be heard anymore. Having
closely worked with Dr.Ravindran in the chapter activities, I always
consider that his vision about the progress of chapter was embodied in
his soul. It is sad and really depressing to think about the chapter
activities without DR.VR. May we pledge to do our best to bring the
chapter foremost in spreading the message of NDT as he had wished. Joining
in silent prayers for the departed souls to be at rest in peace.

Dear Sarat,
I am shocked to learn about the sudden sad demise of Ravindran and Sudha on my
return from a vacation trip to Europe. I had the occassion to talk to Ravindran
before my departure and he informed me about Reshmi's completion of the
Architecture course and her future plans.
After my settling at Kolkata, Ravindran visited here 3 times and every time we
met. On his first visit with family, he spent a full day with us. On his second
visit, we spent some time with Mukhopadhyay. His 3rd visit was very short, but
still he made it a point to meet me on his way to airport. Ravindran not only
was the motive force of Thiruvananthapuram Chapter, he had helped the Kolkata
Chapter of ISNT in a large way in organising the Digital Radiography Workshop
and the meeting of the DRWGI. I was hoping to meet him again with family
during NDE-2010 going to be held in Kolkata in December.
ISNT has lost one of its most able bodied contributors and a very promising
future leader. Thiruvananthapuram Chapter has lost its most illustrious Chairman.
Kolkata Chapter has lost a very good friend and a well wisher. It is a big
personal loss for me. I had the opportunity to choose and groom Ravindran during
the NDT developmental days at RPP. He had proven himself worthy of the trust
and expectations we had from him. His contributions to NDT in the country in
general and to VSSC in particular will be remembered for a long time. ISNT was
immensely benefitted through his active role in all its departments. I cannot
control my grief like each and every one of you in Thiruvananthapuram. The
very thought that the smiling faces of Ravindran and Sudha will not be seen again
turns me remorseful. VSSC has lost two of its young and excellent Scientists.
I join the NDT community of the country and the scientific community of VSSC and
ISRO as a whole in condoling the sad demise of Ravindran and Sudha and wish that
Almighty God may give enough strength to young Reshmy and all the near and dear
ones of Ravindran and Sudha to overcome the loss. May their souls rest in peace.

Dear Sai Suryanarayana ,
When I returned from my trip today morning, I had seen a disturbing news from
you and others about the sudden demise of our good friend Dr. V.R. Ravindran
due to an accident that he met with.
My acquaintance with him was for many years. And, it was definitely a shocking
news to me. I happened to meet him often during ISNT conferences, seminars,
NGC meetings, etc. He was always positive in thinking and very intellectual
and meticulous in his work. I do recall about his work on radiography which
brought him an award which he deserved . In addition to this, he was also
very active in ISNT programme. The successes of ISNT Trivandraum chapter
NDT National seminar was also one of his contributions. In future programmes,
we will miss him. Only thing we can do is to remember him and his good deeds.
Please accept my request to convey my condolences to his family members/relatives
May God give them strength to bear this loss and rest his soul in peace.

Dear Shri Sai Suryanarayana,
It is difficult for me to come to terms with the sad news of the
sudden and untimely passing away of our dear friend Dr V R Ravindran
alongwith his wife in a car accident. I am constantly remembering
his smiling face and courteous behaviour. He was so very enthusiastic
about everything in life and had such positive attitude. Such human
beings are rare indeed. It was a privilege for me that I had interactions
with him. I can imagine what a severe blow it must have been for his daughter
and other relatives. It will take a long time to heal. I pray that they
should get the strength to bear this trauma.
Sincerely,

Dear Shri Sai Suryanarayana,
Grieved to hear the sad news and I am totally shaken up.
I am privileged to know Dr. Ravindran since good number of years and I am one of
those very many admirers- for his Professional abilities, contributions to
ISRO/ISNT , deep commitment for R&D work coupled with an excellent attitude
in encouraging/bringing up his people so that they are visible technologically
particularly in NDE/NDT field.
Equally important - he is a gem of a person- you get attracted to him since
the 'energy' level of a person goes up whoever talks/discusses with him.
We remember with gratitude - the attention/affection he has shown to all of us
when we attended National Seminars and other ones at Trivandrum.
It is really sad and very unfortunate - GOD has taken him along with his wife
at a young age. We all in ISNT miss him very much in many respects.
Hearty condolences to AAAA LLLL his family members and we share their grief at
this juncture.
